1957 Mercedes-Benz 190SL

The Mercedes-Benz 190SL was a two door grand touring converible sold alongside the legendary 300SL,which it closely resembled both in its styling and in its fully independent suspension, with both cars having double wishbone suspension at the front and swing axles at the rear.

The beautifully restored car featured here is a legend and in Sri Lanka so is its owner,Mr.Bri Ponnambalam. He is a veteran racing driver, an avid Mercedes-Benz enthusiast and collector of some of the finest classic motor cars available in the region.

Mr.Ponnambalam's 190SL was rescued by him when it was in such a state of disrepair that the most ardent car collector would have been dissuaded from even trying to resurrect the classic. In perhaps a minor miracle of the vehicle restoration craft, Mr.Ponnambalam tranformed the hear absent remains of the 190SL back to its former glory and has received high praise even from German Classic Car Judges.
